on 3rd Dec 2008 and said:Ok I'll skip the intro because I don't really like them so on to my first impression. I really liked the colors but from the picture I thought it could have a little bit more of color. I live in Hong Kong too so I know how hard it is to get a nicely colored picture. I also like the simplicity in the layout, but it's a little bit too much.
LayoutCSS
I don't think I need to say anything more about the layout since previous reviewers have already pointed out everything I want to say. The CSS is quite bland because of the lack of colors. I'd suggest you pick around 3-4 colors and if they're too dull or too bright, you could always change the brightness/saturation, as long as you're in the same hue.Site
It's nice to know what caustic means, but I think people would want to know why it's been named caustic. That section left me with question marks on my head. I also agree with Theresa, you need your credits page. Even if you didn't use anyone's resources, you still need to give credit to your programs, scripts, and maybe fonts.Your articles are very helpful, they're concise, to the point and clear. I personally loved the affiliation article, I don't think many people have actually said something about affiliation. I would usually say you need a bit more content, but since your site is quite new, it's fine. Just strive with getting some more articles and icons.
Icons
Your icons are very cute, it's great that you base them from your own photography. Again, I would say in the future, you'll need to build up your section over time. But, they are still very cute and adorable icons.Overall you've got a pretty good site, but you're just missing a few factors from becoming a great site. Keep up the work!

on 24th Nov 2008 and said:My first impressions were that the image reminded me of blackpool, which is tacky, but the layout definitely isnt. Its really sweet and got a happy kind of feel to it. Maybe you could have done something to it though, it looks kind of plain. The codings super cute though, except i dont like the main navigation coding. Maybe remove the background when you hover or something, because it makes it look like it doesnt fit properly, you know? That the navigation bar doesn't stretch across the whole screen. Which it doesn't.
The name makes the site sound interesting and that someone with more than half a brain owns it, which is definitely a plus (:
You show your opinion though, which is always good, and not in a bimbo'y "this is really bad" kind of way, more of a "i have a brain and im not afraid to use it" way. Not many thirteen year old girls right articles about the good and bad sides of the media, and certainly don't care or pay attention to that kind of thing, so good on you. The site is also pleasantly articulate.
The only bad thing, is that there isn't many resources, but your blog is more than interesting enough.
well done!Using Firefox on Windows | Report This?

Your text is a reasonable size, the headers are nice, and I can't really seem to find anything wrong with the overall look of your site.Your autobiography is rather short, but satisfying. You give basic information about yourself, and I can get a small sense of your personality from reading it.
Your "Site" section is also informational. It's just the "Site" section...not much to review there. ;D
Your articles are very helpful! You are an excellent writer, and I really enjoyed reading all of your articles. You should add a lot more of them.
The icons are nice. You made them out of your own photos, which is awesome. I think you could have done a little more to them, though. Add some textures or gradients or something. =)
Overall, your site is off to a great start! It has a lot of potential. The articles you've written so far are really helpful and informative. The icons are decent, but not really anything amazing. Your site is very appealing to the eye, and I can't really find anything bad about it.
Keep up the great work!

However, it would be awsome if you could change the coloring of it, like people do on livejournal. Your posts are rather short, and I would love it if you could write more, because you are "bored". Your icons are cute, but you could jazz them up by using different colorings or textures. You can also find other pictures of its a small world on google. Overall, its a very cute and great site. Keep up the good work!

Its really nice to see something else other than celebrity images...like ones i use x.X your blogs seemed reallly interesting. I found myself reading through them one by one :) Everything was easily navigatable and the css looked good.
*Site*
First impression is a bit squished...but after reading through everything it seemed as though everything was where it should be and it looked good. I love the way you included the sites you had before.*She*
Your description was very interesting and i enjoyed reading through it. The first two sentences just grasped my attention because it was funny and it made me want to read more. The picture of you gives readers a visual of who they're reading about.*Articles*
Ill admit i didnt read through all of them, but everything looked neat and organized!
So far you have a lovely site..

The background colour goes perfectly with the image, but your headers are a bit boring and plain and they need more colour.
Your homepage is a bit too londg so you should try numbering the number of blogs on your homepage. But other than that your homepage looks fine so far. Ill review the pages now.Site:
This page looks very neat but you havent got any credits or history of how your site started for example piczo.she:
Nice setup. Did you use image align or something? cos it looks fab! Instead of writing loads out you should try some quick facts for people that dont' like reading long bits of info.Articules:
I have read one or two of your articules and i have to say im impressed you should write some more or some stories.icons:
They looked very proffesional and cute. You should try experimenting with different effects; see how it turns out.Overall i think your site is amazing! keep going.

on 22nd Nov 2008 and said:Hey Eunice! I'm Susanna and I thought I'd give your site a quick review, so here we go!
When I arrive at the site, I'm relatively impressed thus far - your layout is not celebrity based, which is great (not only do I hate the fact it's copyright to use celeb images, but I think it's dreadfully boring, don't you?) and the colors are not blinding or anything ridiculous. I like the yellow you've used for the background, I think it's nice and subtle and obviously ties in nicely with the body of the Ferris Wheel in your layout. However, I do think you could maybe have done a little bit more editing to the photo to make it a little bit more impressive, if you understand me?
When I look at your styling, I like what is see. you headers are big an clear and you haven't went over the top with any colors in the css. I dislike your navigation rollovers - I think it'd look much nicer without the extra blue bar at the bottom.
Your homepage has a lot on it, and I'd suggest cutting your blog posts right down so that you can only see the last blog and the others are linked at the bottom. This would also make a footer look great at the bottom of your page, like the other reviewers have also suggested. You could add your favourite bloggers or whatever here, or maybe a feed from your last.fm account?
Your links are in a strange order (e.g. having your "site" page linked before your "she" page... I think that's strange, but maybe that's just me O_o), and I don't understand why you have "Icons" as a separate link when you don't have an awful big selection of them - why don't you combine them with the "articles" page and just call it "Goodies" or something?
ANYWAY, onto your actual pages now, eh?
"Site"
I was quite interested to find out what your site name meant, because I didn't realize it would also mean
"1. capable of burning, corroding, or destroying living tissue."
but the strange thing is, you don't actually tell the visitor which one of these descriptions (which are both very different) you intended the site name to be named for.
I actually really like the way you've set out the "before this site" section - I've never actually seen this before and I think it's much better than a whole paragraph of "History" which a lot of people may not care for. nice job, here!
"She"
This page is fine although you have some capitalization errors in the first paragraph and in the third paragraph is "an instrument" supposed to be "one instrument"? I'm the same as you with the phone calls thing. I text as much as I can to avoid a phone call, haha!"Articles"
I really like your article on affiliation. It's not one that I've ever came across before but a thing I've frequently thought about. Interesting to see it all written down in an article with some thought put in! Nice!Your blogging tips article was okay, but it's something I've seen before a lot (and wrote before, I might add) so it's nothing particularly special. Laid out nicely though.
Your traffic article one was also quite... I don't want to use the word unoriginal, because the article was good in itself, but because so many other people have done it... it takes away from the quality - get me? I also found it strange you didn't put in something about your blog being really good and interesting to tie in with the previous article... I'd also say that that was the most important thing, not commenting others.
I enjoyed your article about the media most of all, though. It's clear to see it's something you put thought into and you care about to some degree.
"Icons"
There's not a lot to say here really - the actual icons are fine. Is there really a need to have to click another link to get to them though? Why not just put them under another header on the first "Icons" page?Well, that's everything! I did say "quick reviews", didn't I..? I guess I kinda got caught up on your site (which is a good thing!!)

on 22nd Nov 2008 and said:My first impressions of the site is that it's quite neat. Everything's in place and in line. I like the layout image, i think it's quite pretty and it's great that you used your own photography, which is a plus. However, like the others said, the layout itself is kind of boring. Maybe you could enhance the layout by using some coloring tutorials and maybe make the font stand out a little better. In general, my first impressions are that your sites very clean but a little boring.
The css is okay, it's a little plain though and doesn't stand out that much. Also, I put your site in a css validator and came up with a few errors. http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.caustic.tasteofink.net%2F&profile=css21&usermedium=all&warning=1&lang=en See that? If you change it, your site will definitely load faster. And the errors are very simple to fix! I also like the font size, its neat and easy to read and the line height is perfect.
I like the navigation hovers, but maybe you could have made the active navigation (before the hover) a little more attractive since it's just plain black and white.
Your articles are great! They're very well written and I can tell you put a lot of thought into them. This actually isn't the first time I've visited your site and I remember reading your articles and taking away a lot of information from them, so great job! They're also a suitable length and are spaced out so it's easy to read through them.
As for your icons, I like them and they're quite cute. I definitely commend you for not using any celebrity images or anything like that. And the coloring is pretty good on the icons. A couple of them seem a little blurry though, if you sharpen them they'll be great :)
I like your autobiography, it's short and sweet and provides just enough information for the visitor and it was kind of humorous.
Overall, your site is nice and clean but I think you can work on the css and the layout a bit. That will make your site more unique and even better! Your content is great, I wish you'd add more icons though because they're really cute :) Keep it up.

Aesthetically, I like your layout, although the header image is a bit plain. It's good that you took the picture yourself, though. The centered layout is always a plus, and I like the pale yellow background.
Where is your footer?
I love your blogs, as I've told you before. I also liked your sense of humour on your "She" page. You could expand this section to include more, such as listing your favourites.
Your articles are very good. I love the wit and arguments, you should definitely include more of these. Or maybe add some of your older ones from Cynistique.net. Yes, I remember that site. :)
I like your icons, but you could expand this section. Also, consider adding some more visitor content in the future, or visitors will get bored. Personally I would read the articles, but whatever.
Your Site section is good, but you should definitely include some credits.
Your grammar is impeccable, which I love in a site. If people can't spell, they should at least use a spell checker, but I think that since you appear to be a clever person, you wouldn't need one.
Overall, I like your site a lot. The wit and humour play a bit part in your site's popularity, but the content and personal section are somewhat lacking. I gave you 4 stars - keep up the great work!!

on 22nd Nov 2008 and said:The layout is nice, but it's -almost- bordering on boring. I think the solid background color works well with the semi-busy header you have, though, so I don't know. Oh, you took the picture yourself? Very good :)
I think the links in the content area are fine, but that the links in the navigation should be more standy-outy, y'know? I also think that the links are in a weird order.
Site--"Behind the Name" is boring :( I want to know more. Why did you pick the site name? How? I need more information, grrl! Ditto on "Before this Site." You don't need to write out an essay, just a short interwebs history would do. Like you did for "Current Layout," that length was suitable.
She--that was indeed, you in a nutshell. I wish there were more "because"s though...why do you find Disneyland boring? Why is your iPod holy? Why do you hate the Chinese culture? (the last one would be interesting to know!) More information in general would be nice. What I noticed you not talk about what how you interact with the world. I think my about page has the same problem, so I know what I'm talking about, I think :P
Articles--I like "Affiliation" but the last sentence is unnecessary :P Whatever though, it's not that important. "Blogging Tips" was good *thumbs up* "Traffic Tips" too, and "The Media Monster" was very good. You write well, and not just for a 13 year old (but that too).
Icons--ooh, pretty.
All-in-all, I srsly enjoyed your site

Thank you so much! =D I guess I have a too-complicated layout phobia, which is why I try to simplify mine - maybe too much.
Hmm, I shall edit the navigation with my next layout, but what do you mean, the links are in a weird order?
I shall elaborate on my site name, but I have a feeling that if I explained everything in my autobio, it'd become too long :(
Thanks about the comments on the articles as well!
You rock ;D

on 22nd Nov 2008 and said:Hi Eunice! I am bubblez and I am going to be honest when reviewing your site. In some areas of your review, I might be a bit harsh. However, I hope my review will help your site to become better!
01: Layout- I love your layout. It is original and centered! The image you took was nice. The colors you chose was nice and matches. Your layout attracts your visitors to browse your site which is good. The background you chose was nice since it had a nice effect.
02: HTML/CSS Coding- Okay, I plugged your site into a HTML validator and you have 46 errors for XHTML 1.0 Transitional. It is best that you fix these errors because it can help your site to load faster or won't have any problems while loading. For css, you have eight errors. Like before, it is best that you change these errors.
03: Cross-browser compatibility: Excellent job! Your site can be viewed in Safari, Firefox and Internet Explorer. Your visitors shouldn't have any problems loading your site then!
04. Content:
Icons- I love these icons you made. They are so cute!! The effects are different as well. :)Articles: These are well-written and original. Your articles were not super long which is good since people shouldn't be bored while reading these.
Overall: I really enjoyed browsing your site, Eunice. Your site was easy to navigate and well-organized. However, I think you should have 'Terms of use' as a part of your site section since you might face problems (eg: people copying your content). From looking at your history of sites you made, you are experienced which means you have great potential to make good layout and have unique content. You know what to do and not to do which is good =)

Happyland's Response:
Argh, the validation thing - it all boils down to my laziness, no excuses there. Maybe during the Christmas holiday, when I have nothing to do, I'll have a go at validating them :) Sadly, I normally don't understand what the hell the validation things are trying to tel me. Not very good with technical terms.
Thanks for your review! Shall try to improve on what you've pointed out =)

Asthetics
Your site is very simple, while I like that to a degree I am inclined to also tell you that it's also very boring. Your links (while underlined and clearly defined) are the same color as your text. Your background color doesn't have enough contrast against the white of your content area. You don't seem to have a defined footer. Footers always anchor the site with a layout such as yours quite well.Content
Site: The information is pretty good but I feel like there's something missing here. Maybe some more information on what you used to create the site or credits if you have any. She: I found the information that you provided to be just enough. Not too much, not "not enough", ya know? I don't really like talking about myself either but everyone expects that damn page. I like your sense of humor as well.
Articles: You write very well and I enjoyed reading your opinion on some of the subjects. They're useful articles.
Icons: It was great to see that the images that you used for your icons (and i'm even guessing your header image) were taken by you and not just some celeb images snagged off the web and (basically) be made into a thumbnail.
Your content was suitable but you only got three starts because your layout was so bland. That's always the first person that draws someone in long enough to actually read through your site.
Using Firefox on Windows | Report This?
Happyland's Response:
I try to over-simplify my layouts because I'm scared everything with become jumbled up and unclear, but I guess I do that too much. Footers - haven't given them much thought before, shall do that next time.
The site page is pretty empty, I know, but I've only had the site for a month or so and can't find much to write about it :(
Thanks for the compliments :) And yes, my header image was taken by me as well. I must admit I've used celeb images a lot in the past - and got scolded for it - but since I just started a new site I figured I'd try and keep it clean from copyright violation. Thanks for the review! Shall try and improve on your advice :)
