To begin with, your site is absolutely beautiful. I love the layout, the colors used, the readability, and practically everything else about it.
I was a bit disappointed to learn that you were going to be on a bit of a hiatus, and that you were going to stop development on your scripts. However, I understand that what goes on in the real world must come first.
I'm not going to comment on the coding or the CSS...because you're a ninja, and might decide to get revenge. Plus, I'm positive that there aren't any. :)

Upon browsing the site, and through the articles, I found a well structured and informative site, that provided informative as well as humorous articles, that sparked my mind.
The design and style of the site is consistent and pleasing to the eyes.
All in all, a blog that I will be subscribing to, and now, frequently 'checking out'. :)

First impression: A little bored. You could have at least put your header in a bar across the top to make it make a little less plain.
About: Cool. Cute cat
Geek & Gamer TShirts: Some of these shirts are hilarious. I especially love its not a bug, it’s a feature.
My Internet History: Nice. Very good especially since you have so many sites on your review me page and you said you’ve been around since 2000 so history is good because I imagine you’ve moved from at least one site.
Ask A Question: Nothing there. Take it down. It’s pointless. Add it back when you get it up and running.
Contacting Me: Very good page. Stops people in their tracks from spamming you of the same questions.
Articles: They look very interesting. (In order of appeal to me lol)
>>Tutorials: lol. I bet I could write a similar article because I’ve just run into so many bull crap tutorials while converting to php that I was close to tears lol
>>HTML/XHTML: I love your explanations. This article is actually useful rather than the crap found elsewhere where they ramble for 1732328 pages on end. I especially love the length. You get in, get it done and then it’s over.
>>Splash Pages Suck: Never thought of them that way. I know I used to do that but I grew out of them fast because it was just 1 more thing to code. And that was back in my days of poor cross browser compatibility. This article is hilarious btw.
Basically, your site is pretty much flawless. I love your articles lol. You’ve been book markedUsing Safari on Windows | Report This?

If you'd read my blog you'd have realised why there is a) no layout and b) some pages don't function... I recently had to switch from WordPress to my own blog solution. Unfortunately, coding the new functionality takes time.
Thank you, though.

I'd give you 5 stars but right now your theme is a little lacking in my opinion since you've had all of your WordPress woes. :D Oh, and you are a cat person and have adorable cats so you rock. ;) Hmm.. how can I stretch this out for a few more words. She offers fantastic scripts, for free, which makes the scripts that much more fantastic. I'd use every one of them, if I had a practical use for them all.
Her entries are almost always interesting, which is more than I can can say for many people, and many of them are extremely informative.
In a nutshell, it's a blog well worth visiting on a regular basis.

After my initial disappointment and being upset at the review, I realised what she had said was absolutely spot-on. My site did look really bad. It was Jem's review that made me think a little more about what I was doing when it came to webdesign.
So I guess I'm throwing it back now :PJem, I've always loved your site. You always have very clean, simple layouts that never fail to make an impact.
Your navigation is very well set out, everything is very easy to find and your wit and humour always have me in stitches.
I do love your reviews and different articles, and the secure scripts that you offer to your visitors - they are the best and easiest to use that I've found. The only reason I'm not giving you a 5/5 is because if you keep getting them, you won't try as hard next time :P
All the best and keep up the great work :)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I have been putting off doing this review because it's so not very fun to review people when there is so little they can improve or that I can suggest. :( However, I have promised myself to review every single site so I cannot allow this to be an exception. It will probably just be stupid and short like the one I did for TT. :P
First Impression:
First of all I want to change my vote that I cast for the whole "inverted layout" dealie. I decided I did in fact prefer the inverted version over the current one after all.
Umm I guess I can't really give a good "First" impression since I harass your blog daily now. Eh!
Originality:
While the concept of a blog site with articles can't really be very original (it seems like everyone has a "blog" anymore. Damn those Myspace teenyboppers with their uber cool PROFILEEEE blogs..! *barf*) your articles have always made me laugh. At first I was terrified because I didn't want to get Pantsed but after a while I figured that if I did get the Pants, I would deserve it anyway and just use it to make my site better. So then I wasn't skurred anymore.
Wait, what was I talking about? Hehe. Ok so your articles and your posts are original, yes.
Coding:
Gun' pull out the 'ole W3C validators again. (Hey, I am technically from a redneck family.) Ok, passed both tests. :P Grats!! So yeah yeah, your coding is amazing... *toots your horn* ;) I'm just jealous!
Design:
I really think your ninja would be a lot better if he were larger. At least maybe make him as tall as the text in your image.
I really would like a white background behind your posts because in my old age (ha!) it's harder for me to read on colored backgrounds.
Content:
MORE PANTS PLEASE!!!!! That's all I have to say about content. :( When I see crappy sites, all I can think about are Pants. :( :( :(
Final Thoughts:
Yeah maybe this is a pointless review... Oh well. I threw in a suggestion or two here and there? :D PANTS FTW!

The design of this site may not be overly-interesting, but nonetheless is a clean and user-friendly design. The design features a consistent colour scheme, which helps with the overall flow of the website.
Blog Quality: 9.5/10
Jem's blogs are amazing. The serious-humour attitute mixed in with some cute pet pictures is a winning formula, and one which has obviously worked well for Jem's ever-growing community of followers.
Articles: 9/10
Jem's articles are a must-read and I definately reccomend them to anyone that owns a website, or a frequent internet user. The range of topics are usually to do with PHP and web trends, with some usability articles too.
Overall: 8/10
The overall look and feel of Jem's site is great, and she is obviously doing something right to get the amount of visitors she does. The frequent updating mixed with the quality of the content is yet another of Jem's winning formulae. I have awared Jem's site with Four stars, well done Jem =]

I can't stand a website where you get lost in all the content. It's a little plain and I don't like the orange links with the rest of the blue, white and gray website, but at least it is visible.
Blog - The blog on this website is updated frequently with interesting little snippits, and even better- some entries that are almost like reading the journal of the author. (Those are my favorite kinds of entries to read and write!)
Content - There are a lot of really food, solid articles on this website. And even though they are based on the opinion of the author, they are solid opinions and are not written in a flimsy, flip-flop sort of way. I especially like the articles about Copyright Violations, Internet Begging and Unrequested Reviews.
Here is where I would like to say that the author's article about unrequested review actually changed my mind regarding what I thought about the subject. I never thought of it that way before and I'm glad that I took the time to finish read the article all the way through.
The scripts are very good and I see them all over the place. Personally, I don't use any of the scripts offered on this website but I'm thinking of downloading the ask & answer script and giving that a shot. I'm not even sure if I will know how to work it, haha.
In conclusion, everything about this site is well thought out and well put together. Everything is solid and easy to navigate, and everything that is intended to be helpful is.

But, I am trying to make sure everyone on the last page of websites gets a review from me before they get pushed down the page and into oblivion (which is sort of what happened to my site-- I haven't received a review since day 1 :( ). ANYWAY, I really should've put that on the rev.iew.me review.
This is my favourite design of yours, so I can't even pick it apart. Lame, Jem, lame sauce. OMG though your background is a COLOUR. Shame on you!
Yup. I've run out of things to say. Which sucks. Now, I am only going to get one point. Not that I need it, but STILL. Cry cry cry.
Here are my tips for making your site better:
- More Pants
- More kitties.
- Less posts about having tummy flu :P
- Your link to Aisling leads to her old URL. Not really a big deal, since it re-directs, just thought I'd mention it to add something to this list.

I also like your scripts as well and I use some of them for my other sites. Keep on building these great scripts when you can! :)
Also, I love your current layout, not because it's simple-looking but because of the fact that it's blue (blue is my favorite color). Of course, I also add that your designs are always within web standards, which I still have yet to learn and get used to when I build sites (I'm getting there... I don't particularly like the current layout in comparison with your previous ones for a few reasons:
- It's boring, graphically and color-wise. Hey, wait a second, your current entry says rev.iew.me is better than Obama! I take offense at that! :D
- I still dislike your site's motto, "ultimately better than you." :( You're such a nice, non-snobby person to talk with, but that motto just gives the impression that you're some elitist jerk. Maybe you have lofty ideas about an ideal web site, which might make you elitist, but you've not been a snob in conversations. It just seems mean, darn it, and you aren't mean!
- I don't like navigation that jumps around on hover, and that goes for your tabs that shrink in size.
Your layout does have a good mix of font size and color (grays, orange accents, small-caps). I like the little icons you use, too, and the rounded corners help to bring a little graphical interest to the layout. I prefer layouts that have more colors--this dull blue and gray combination is kind of boring.
I think you write very good coding advice articles, and many of your blog posts are good reads. Your content is very good and has been as long as I've been visiting your site. The big drawback this time, and why you're getting a 4 instead of 5 stars, is the layout. I know you can do better, because I've seen it from you before. There, feel my 4-star wrath!!

I love reading the blog posts that Jem comes up with, and she offers a wide variety of topics; from her cats, her php knowledge to trying to 'help' poorly designed websites with egotistical owners.
Having said what Jem lacks in design, I am still very much in love with the design that Jem has come up with. It is very simplistic, and frames her content nicely - which at the end of the day is the main reason of a layout. It engages the audience, but does not distract from the content.
As stated before when speaking to Jem, I cannot help but sit for about 5 minutes and just play with the moving in and out of the menu hovers ^^
Unfortunately, I give it 4 stars because I did notice a bug when waiting for a comment to be moderated. The text 'Your Comment is awaiting moderation' was half tucked under the bottom rounded corners of the comment div. I do not know if this was just in Safari, but something you might want to look into Jem.

The current design is one of my favorites of hers. It is very clean, no Squidfingers patterns that I can see (I know, I know, they're nice but you can spot them a mile away), and has a cohesive color scheme. I'm a sucker for rounded corners, and I feel like they're not a typical "Jem thing" so I like that this layout is somewhat out of the norm. Great use of icons, too.
Content is well-organized and clear, and there's an awful lot of it to boot.
No coding complaints. I'd be afraid if there were.
Since Jem is pretty much the forerunner on originality (my-own, copyright articles, etc.) I think we are good here as well.

From her extremely open and straightforward attitude to her wonderful scripts and tutorials, Jem's website / blog is definitely one of those ones that EVERYONE knows about.
Content:
Her topics are always great and I've personally gathered a bunch of great tips and tutorials that I've bookmarked individually from her blog, especially her PHP scripts and tutorials.I LOVE honest bloggers who get straight to the point and doesn't beat around the bush and try to impress everyone. Sometimes it may seem harsh, but it's always entertaining to read and a good break from blogs who seem to only care about impressing their readers and not showing their REAL self. Jem is definitely one of those.
Design:
I've noticed her blog has always been CONTENT > DESIGN which works well because content-wise, she has way more than others to offer but her designs are still always clean and always compliant to web standards which is just as important. As a designer, I'm loving the colors of her currently layout; blues and oranges always look good together and the white is a good contrast. I think the rounded corners soften the look to her more serious looking website. Plus, you gotta love the little ninja icon!Unable to detect browser/operating system | Report This?

The layout at time of writing is a clean rounded-corners style with lots of space for content. There's no header, which is certainly bucking the trend of most sites these days, and all the info is in the sidebar. It's pretty good, although I must say that I dislike having to scroll down so much for all the information I want to find.
The code is valid. That's really all I can say about it, because I lack a finer understanding of a lot of the high-end techniques used here.
The content is fine. I wish that there were more frequent additions to the scribbles, etc, and not just log posts, but Jem has a life, yes?

Her blunt and arguably harsh way of writing has earned her numerous fans and even a few hard-core haters. Her blogs are always a good read, and she updates regularly and often, so you're never left waiting. She also covers a large range of topics, ranging from programming help to e-drama to her furry family and daily activities... and more!
Jem's designs aren't exciting, but they are clean, clear and easy on the eyes while adding a hint of visual interest and being quite memorable. She's never claimed to be a designer genius (she leaves that to me, cough cough ;D) she still manages to pull off successful and attractive designs... if you, too, struggle with design, take a page out of this girl's book!
Her content is broad in topics as her blog. She has great, comprehensive articles on everything from trends, guides and tips to reviews on websites, games and insecure scripts! And, on top of that, she has a series of her own scripts that the meticulously maintains... so you're never left waiting for that bug to be fixed (if there even are any!)
Overall, Jem has a well rounded website... a simple but memorable website paired with great and interesting content and a fascinating (and addictive) blog on top! Five stars!
