Layout
I like how the information is simply there. It seems now that most people forget how to place a Web site's exhaustive information (meaning complete, not tiring) on one page. What might I want to know? Anything. Where can I find everything? The one-stop "About" page! Fantastical.Content
Again, it's all in one place. I browsed through every photo which took four or five minutes. That's not bad for showcasing so much work! I could spend more time here easily, but I really appreciate it being in one place. Why? Because I get an incredibly quick look at everything your portfolio has to offer, and I can always go back and look at something more closely. You have just enough content to where I can skim through it all without feeling overwhelmed if I want to go back and look through it all with a keener eye.Purpose
Business is a good purpose. This is something for which you have a drive and desire, and this indubitably shows itself. While you do not say whether this is your main income, it is not a stretch of the imagination to assume so. If it is not, you have one of the most developed hobbies I have seen.Text
I noticed a few errors with your text as I do with everyone. Do not be particularly disappointed, but just know that there is always room for improvement here.Originality
Maybe I see a little Disney coming through you, but it's hard to improve upon that. Have you ever seen "The Fox and the Hound"? I am heavily reminded of that by your artwork, though you do it all yourself, there is definitely credit due to you here. You are not a fan site or anything else that uses anything else besides you powered by your own steam.Activity
You have none that even has an opportunity to show, and that works well here. Conclusion
My first impression was incorrect, and the simplicity was almost too good to be true. I was proven wrong and then pleasantly surprised.Suggested Changes
1) The background image doesn't suit me using a 1024 by 768 screen resolution on IE 7. There is a scroll bar stretching horizontally on the bottom (and even more so on the “Art†page). Perhaps a resolution reduction would fix this.
2) The Flickr slideshow, however convenient, may give some people the idea of unprofessionalism. I would look into somehow making your own content player so as to avoid the advertisements for Flickr.
3) Most places on the site where I hover my cursor, either “head†or “bottom†appears in description text next to my cursor. This appears to be a coding error. I am not exactly sure how to fix this, but you need to look into it. Any HTML or CSS forum could help.Using MSIE on Windows | Report This?
Greykitty's Response:
Thanks for the review. I work in a really high resolution so it's hard to judge sometimes how it looks in smaller ones. As for IE I did test it but I still have the high resolution so it didn't show any scrollers. I will look into that and the title thing displaying. :)
This was an experimental layout but I know how to fix the scrolling thanks to a friend. :DI been using flickr because my host sucks and any scripts I try to use error on me and they don't reply to my error reports, I'm thinking of transferring it all to my other domain and just having a sub domain as my portfolio from now on. Only reason I haven't is he hosts it for free since I wont an art contest he ran years ago. XD It would be less of a hassle though if do move...and I could use a self hosted script. >_>
Anyways! Thanks for the suggestions and the nice review! If you might ever get a chance to check out and review my other site that would be awesome cause I don't know how well it looks for other people. All my friends either think it looks good or have a larger resolution so it would be nice to hear an opinion from someone other than a friend. LOL! I will glady return the favor on your site! I been meaning to review it now for a few days already.
