to see what to fix.CONTENT
ACTIONS: Love them, they look great. And the page looks very clean & simple.BACKGROUNDS: They look great! Love the previews. Might want to add some more though.

ICON TEXTURES: Looks good, add more!

on 29th Sep 2010 and said:Hey! My name's Owen and I'll be reviewing your site today.
Okay, I'm just going to dive straight in..
I really like the simplicity of your layout. I'd recommend putting the large image on the left in a div. You should change the background colour of the navigation links. Just a little bit darker, because at the moment they're kind of hard to see.
The title of your blog should also be slightly darker making it easier to see on entry. I really don't like how you've displayed the categories and the date you posted the blog. It doesn't really match the rest of the layout. Play around with it a little bit, I'd like to see something a little more creative than some small, capitalised text.
I like how you've displayed the pages at the bottom of the content area. The "main · archive · feed" is off-centred. It really doesn't look very appealing. Try and get that sorted out.
I'd also recommend putting the search box in the footer, instead of where it's located now. You should make the the search box the same height as the submit button. You can do so by adding padding on the top and bottom;
Padding: 2px ?px 2px ?px;I really don't think your footer looks very appealing. Again, try and make it a little more creative. Maybe use an image instead of a plain grey background. Match it with your layout.
You need to credit whoever created the scroll to top JavaScript code.
Now for the Owner page..
You need to re-write your about page. Some parts just don't make sense. I've corrected a few mistakes, but I'm not going to go through the whole thing. There is really no need for this; "First of all, let me introduce myself.""Hey, my name is Rafa, and I'm a 17-year-old guy who.." should be; "Hey, my name is Rafa. I'm a 17-year-old guy who..".
"kick boxing and making websites, apparently." Kick boxing is one word.
Now, your Resources page..
First off, "Actions" should be "Photoshop Actions". "Premade Layouts" should be "Pre-made layouts".Actions
I'd recommend centring the how to use image. I like how you've displayed the actions, they look nice. You should but the newest actions at the top, so your visitors don't have to scroll down to see them.Backgrounds
You need to use...instead of.... There is really no need to have the "Click me" link in the middle of the image, because 1) It looks ugly. 2)You just open the same image except in a new window. It's completely pointless. Place the backgrounds as images instead of having them as a table background. The background however are really good!
Brushes
Nothing really to say about these. The only ones I can see being useful are the splatter and floral brushes. All of your brushes are really high quality though!Icons
Most of your icons don't actually show up so.. The icons I can see aren't, in my opinion 'icons'. They're just icon bases with an action applied, if that.Icon Bases
These are really good! I like how you've displayed them.Emoticons
These are good too. May I ask why you're using italics on this page for the 'not' and 'link back' and on other pages your using bold?Favicons
I'm not too keen on your favicons. I can't really see them being used by anyone.Free Fonts
Again, I like how you've displayed these. Sort out the fourth image that doesn't appear. Change the link in the resources navigation to "Free Fonts" instead.Magazine Stocks
Don't have anything to say about these.Pre-made Layouts
I love the layout images you use for these, I just really don't like the CSS. Neither of them are valid either.Your Tutorials are really basic. I'd recommend adding some more complex tutorials for the more experienced visitors.
From the tutorials I looked at, they're pretty well written. Try and make them look a little more 'attractive'.
Your Site page has a few spelling mistakes on. Get these sorted out.
Your link back buttons are really nice. Good job!
I'd recommend using a contact form for your affiliates page.
I'm not going to review your portfolio, as it isn't part of your website.
Your website's pretty good! There are definitely some well needed improvements that could be made. Try and use the advice I've given you.

on 19th Sep 2010 and said:Hi there I’m Laura and going to review your site
I’m going to view it in: internet explore, fire fox, and safari
First impression: it bright and is not cluttered so that’s kool. But in your sidebar were it says hypnotic it really trips my eyes so that means you made a good job creating it lol. I think its cute how you have the bar code at the end of your navigation.
Layout: It defiantly works you didn’t use too much brushes but its good because sometimes people use too much of them and it becomes a mess. I like the fact that you used two solids as you background. Looks good in all three browser that I saw your site. I don’t know if you had checked that.
Css: your css is good I like how you carry out you colors throw out you site. But, in your main content your first header the words are just gray why not spice it up a little bit.
Content: you have great backgrounds but my fav. Was the zebra print. Your brushes are cool. And your icons are a very good quality. And the lion king is a classic. I see that you have a tutorial for favicons but why don’t you have one? The font downloads I like them they are just amazing. Your tutorials are well explained so people you follow your step by step. I was wondering why not have your affies in your side bar you could have it in a drop down menu so your layout will still look hot it will remain the same.
Overall: you have a fabulous site I hope you continue that way. It was fun surfing you site.
Why the rating: because there’s not much I would change but even if you didn’t it still be perfect! =)

on 18th Sep 2010 and said:Style/Design- It just so happens that I am a fan of simplistic layouts. My favorite part of your layout is the octopus picture in the upper left-hand corner. All in all, there isn't much to say about your design or layout except that you have done a very great job with it!
Content-You have a decent amount of content that makes visitors want to visit frequently. My favorite is the premade layouts. Perhaps you could make more? For me, it's a great inspiration source, and that goes for many people out in the "coding world".
Originality- Overall, your site's originality is basic. Don't get me wrong! Your site is beautiful, and it does have originality, but it is pretty basic. That isn't a bad thing at all, though.
My thoughts- Don't change. Yeah, try new things and all that other stuff that makes you a great designer, but stick to your style. Your style is that thing that makes you different from every other designer on the World Wide Web. Keep it up ;D

on 20th Aug 2010 and said:Layout/CSS: I am a big lover on all things simplistic, and your layout definitely hit that right on the head. I love the image of the squid/octopus on the left hand side. I also love the fact of how underneath the sites name it says, "Resources & Tutorials". It lets the viewer know right aways what they should be expecting with your site. The layout design overall is very sleek and original. I absolutely adore the navigation menu; the bar code is just too cute. I love how you use bullets throughout your pages; it gives your information great organization. The color that you chose for your text is also very lovely. Most people would have chose a black, or something darker, but the lightness of the gray is great. You might want to mess around with the size of your text though. It seems a bit small. I would keep it the same height for your side bar, but the blog and content could be a bit bigger.
Content: On the "Owner" page, you do have a good amount of information on yourself. I would add a little bit more though. Maybe add a like and dislike section. It would give your readers/viewers a better sense of who you are. You have a lot of content within the resources section. I will be saving your site to my favorites for future reference. Keep up with your content, and you will have a lot of people coming back for more. The Photoshop tutorials are pretty good; I would stray away from the basic tutorials that a lot of other sites offer. The HTML tutorials good use some more content. You have a good amount of content with the "Site" section of your site. I love how it is set up.

on 30th Jul 2010 and said:While I'm usually not a very big fan of layouts that aren't centered, I do really like yours. I love simplicity, and I love the slash of red you have; there's not too much color, but it's not entirely bland either. Though, I would recommend having your site name in red rather than some random French words. As a first-time visitor, my eyes should immediately go to your site name rather than other words. The way it stands right now, my eyes are looking at the red "J'adore" word first, and thinking that's the site name.
As far as the rest of the layout and the coding is concerned, I don't really have that much to say, other than I recommend DIV and lists for your affiliate links. It's a lot less coding and a lot easier to change around and edit. here is a tutorial on creating a tableless layout; it's the same concept with the affiliate links. And here are some dynamic list tutorials. Your list is most like this one, just without a background.
-----CONTENT-----
Main Page
- I'd suggest using different wording for your comments link on your entries. Right now, if you don't have any comments, it reads "This entry has Leave a comment?" Which doesn't really make any sense. "This entry has 0 comments" would make more sense, with 0 comments linked. Or even removing the "this entry has" part altogether. Your choice, but right now it looks incredibly awkward.- Your contact me portion on the sidebar is also contradictory. The link itself is titled "Contact me" but the description says "before you send us your message." Is this site owned by one person or more than one people? It's not good to confuse visitors like that.
Resources
- Your Photoshop actions look interesting, and it's nice that you've even included a tutorial on how to use them. However, it would be nice to indicate which is the original and which is the picture after actions have been applied. It may seem kind of straight forward, but it isn't always to outsiders. A simple arrow pointing img1 --> img2 would work, or even "before" and "after" texts under the images. You can't go wrong with more labels.- For that code on your backgrounds page, you are assuming that everyone is using CSS/knows how to use CSS. I would suggest having two different sets of codes, one for those who know how to use CSS and one for those who only know HTML. (After all, if they need to be told how to do it, they probably don't know how to do it very well.) I would also recommend a full preview of the background; possibly a link that leads to a blank page with just that background covering the entire page. Sometimes, backgrounds look a lot different when actually used than they do when you're just looking at one tile.
- The link to the tutorials on your brushes page should probably be moved to the top of the page, similar to where the link was for your actions.
- I really like your icons; they're not way overcrowded with textures and look really colorful. Though, what exactly is the difference between "people" and "celebs"? (Some of the 'people' look a lot like celebs to me... but I could just be wrong.) Possibly "Models" might be a better header than simply "people" (because celebrities are people too; but now I'm just nitpicking.) Another idea, as the icons grow, would be to have internal links to each category at the very top of the page, so it's easier for visitors to pick out exactly what they're looking for.
- Are the free fonts made by you? If so, shouldn't they have a note at the top of the page like every other one of your resources stating that others shouldn't redistribute these? If not, then shouldn't there be a note at the top of the page saying that these aren't yours but you're just distributing them? It would be really nice if you had a tutorial on how to install fonts as well, as it isn't common knowledge.
- I really like your premade layouts. Did you scan those images as well? (If not, remember to credit whoever did.) I would advise, however, crediting the magazine these images came from in each layout, even if you did scan them yourselves. And also mentioning the model, if you know. If you're going to ask for credits, you should give out credits as well. (Also, the technicolor layout links to an old link for Hypnotic hosted at stilltrue.info.)
Tutorials
- I would advise, in general, to show the before and after in one go at the very beginning of the Photoshop tutorials. That way, without even reading the tutorial or scrolling around, the visitor will be able to know exactly what the end result is and how big of a change there is. You do this for some tutorials, but not for others.- It is also a good idea to credit all images used in these tutorials. You do this for some, but not all.
- Colorful Motions tutorial has a spelling error: "deppending" should be "depending" :)
- You should link to your "Using Textures" tutorials from your icon textures and textures resource pages; it'd be helpful.
- The bolded text is really hard to discern from the normal text in your PHP Includes tutorial. Perhaps consider changing it to a different color so it stands out?
- I would recommend doing the explanations for your Pop up windows with the codes. here is an example of what I am talking about. Instead of just saying Scrollbars: It specifies whether or not the scrollbars are shown., show them the code where that comes from. The more you explain, the easier it is for beginners to grasp.
Site
- I don't have that much to say about this page, other than I would suggest using paragraph tags (<p></p>) rather than line breaks (<br>). It will look a lot less clumped together.- You don't need to link sites that have already expired, such as stilltrue.info. It's nice if you want to mention her name, but there's no point linking her domain if it's already down.
--- This is my first review in a really long time. Hopefully it was helpful.
