Hi, I'm Zainab and I'll be reviewing your site :

Layout: As a first impression I really like it. I would offer some more contrast with more light and shade, but the darkness also looks appealing. I checked out your code and I'd recommend validating it by following those instructions to clean up. I like how you've displayed the navigation to your content with the rollovers, really cool! I would make the navigation links bigger so they're more noticeable, possibly as images in a graphic-y type font to add interest and catch attention so the visitor isn't left searching for them.

Content: I love the story behind your site, it's soo sweet that your family has pooled together each other's hobbies to create a shared website. The colour schemes are also displayed in a really original way which looks really cool. Your resources and tutorials seem useful, so well done :)

Overall I really like this site. Just a few suggestions to tidy up :)

Alright, my first review! I'll be using Mozilla Firefox as a browser, a PC running on Windows 7 and a screen resolution of 1440x900 for this review.

    First Impression
I enter with a nice tan/brown background and fairly large header to the left. The look is nice on the eyes, which I value dearly. I don't like it when layouts blind me. The header is quite big, though, which I don't like since it takes up more room than the actual content does. I like to see content right away rather than just a graphic. I think things could use a bit more contrast as well, not enough to blind though of course. Just enough to not look too dull. I love browns and blues, but maybe make it just a tad brighter?

    Header/Coding/Total Layout
The header features a girl of whom I don't know sitting down. There are stripes of blue and a light tan/white incorporated as a texture overlay and is done nicely. Some grungy text is hidden around some edges. One thing I noticed is that the "x" in "Moxie Girl" looks more like an "r" in the header. Maybe that's just me though?
The coding is clean, though I can't find any use of blue in the text, headers or other details. I would have liked to see some light blue since there are the blue stripes in your header. Also, the text seems a bit bland. Maybe try using a different font for links, and a few letter spacing or font style options rather than just using color changes.

    Navigation and Content
The navigation is up at the top right of your sidebar. Easy to find, very organized.

    Blog
Your home page. Contains a nice blog using FanUpdate that users can comment on. Pretty self explanatory. I personally think it looks cleaner to just display one blog post at a time. It seems a bit messy and long if you have more than one entry on your home page at a time.

    About
The page starts with a nice site explanation. Long enough to tell about the history but not too lengthy to bore a reader to death. I like it! Following the rest of the links on this page you can find about the owner pages, as well as a link back page, plugboard, credit list and contact information. I think it might save you a page if you incorporated the contact email with site information or owner pages, since there isn't much else to place on that page.

    Content
There are 5 different parts to your content section. I'll be reviewing them separately.

-Resources: You have a very nice array of resources on display. The brushes are nice, though the sunburst ones seem a bit pixely. Maybe try and smooth them out a bit? It also seems that you have 2 of the same sets up at once. (The asterisk ones.) The .png sets seem very useful to those of whom don't want or know how to cut out their own images. They're often used for practice too, so good job with these.

-Graphics: I like the icons a lot, especially the 2nd one featuring Kira Knightly. I'm not a huge fan of the banners though. They're simple blends with some coloration and a few brushes. Looking at your icons I think these could have been done better.

-Tutorials: Most of these are simple Photoshop tutorials, though they come in handy with coloration and banner making. I really like the layout technique tutorial. I don't think the drop shadow or warp text tutorials are quite needed, however.

-Portfolio: Literature that the owner(s) has/have written. I will not critique personal portfolios.

-Neopets: Contains guild layouts and a request section. The "Eye Of The Dragon" pick-up doesn't exist. I don't think it's a good idea to place pick-ups on a website. I recommend getting emails or some other way of contact to send things like this to a customer.

    Fashion
This contains fashion tips and what's going on with celebrities. I'm not sure if I'd put this on a graphic/resource site. It seems helpful to those of whom are interested in fashion, though those of whom come to your site for your graphics and resources may just skip past it.

    Music
This goes along the lines of the fashion page. It reviews music and lets you know what's new and happening out there. I have the same opinion about this as I do the fashion content.

    Overall Impression
I think the site is nice and has a great collection of resources and graphics for use. Though some of the content could use some revamping and work the amount of classy and high quality content certainly is there. The web owners seem pretty dedicated to the site to have a good amount of content and a large friend base, which is a good sign and shows that they put hard work into what they like to do. I applaud you!

    Suggestions
I do think that some pages are a bit obsolete or could be combined with other pages to make your site neater and easier to navigate. Also (re)move your fashion and music sections to a different area or all together. In a graphic and resource site I don't see these getting used or read much. I know some may find it useful, but maybe more on another site or subdomain. It helps it be organized and you can focus on one or the other even more that way.
For your layout: add more color! The brown gets a bit overwhelming and I don't see much blue like there is in the header. Try different font effects as well! I think the header is a bit too large as well. It takes up more of the page than the content does, which can turn users off a bit more as well. Think function as well as the look of your header; it's just as important!

I certainly had fun reviewing your site though. I can definitely see your site improving more and more with improvements on the way. You just have to keep working on it!

Hello! My name's Christine, I am currently using a PC that runs window vista, with a resolution of 1280x800. I use Google Chrome to browse the web :)

    First Impression:
-Your header is quite big, it shouldn't take up more than 20% of the page, makes the viewers scroll down quite a bit upon loading and re-loading.

    Layout:
The Navigation links stand out a lot more than your site name, not only because they appear first, it's because they are the same size, colour, and font. i suggest next time, making these links horizontal list, instead of a vertical list, and prehaps making them a different colour and size. Other than that, I think your layout is really cute! A nice colour scheme, and layout. The content and sidebar just really confuse me, because the titles for the content area is aligned to the right, it should be aligned to the left because you have a sidebar on the right, and it makes it seem like its suppose to be a part of it.

    -About page
    Your links look like this:
About Allison About Angela Link Back Credits Contact

I suggest adding "|" in between them, so they are differentiated. It will then look like:
About Allison | About Angela | Link Back | Credits | Contact

    A lot better, right? :)

    -Resources
You have a section under "resources" called "resources". Which is kind of strange. Instead of having your visitor content be called "Resources" it should be something like "Goodies" or "Visitor Content", because tutorials aren't resources, and having a sub section named the same thing doesn't make sense.

When clicking on your resources sub section, the list of content looks like this:
    Brushes [7]
    Collages [6]
    Color Schemes [17]
    Icon Textures [13]
    Magazine Stock [11]
    Patterns [6]
    Photography [10]
    PNGs [2]
    Site Names [40]
    Stock Images [5]

I suggest making it into a un-ordered list. It indents it a bit, and adds bullets. Makes it look a lot nicer, and is a lot more tidy.

You can do this by adding <ul> at the top of the list, and </ul> at the end. Each link should look something like this:
    <li><a href="YOURLINK" title="">Link name</a>[#]</li>

That's all i have to suggest for you now :) Hopefully your site will grow, and more people will review your site. It's nice to see a site that is run by a mother and her daughter. For now, it's a good start.

    Thanks, Christine. (:
This was my first site/layout, etc. to ever make, rather like a guinea pig, so your advice is extremely helpful for the future.
