Aerora, written by Charlotte. Just another useless blog taking up space on the internet. I like receiving criticism as much as receiving compliments, so don't be afraid to get rough.:)

Hello Cherry, I'm Dorine and I'll be reviewing your website today.

    Site Name and URL
Your site name is so... fabulous! I mean, it's sweet and simple and easy to spell - which makes it easier for people to get to your website without trying to remember your website name. ;)

    Layout
This layout is nice but I won't harp on anything about your layout because I spot a credit at your footer and the theme is not made by you. Therefore I won't talk about anything much here.

    Fonts, Smilies, ETC.
If I'm not wrong, I don't spot any smilies around :P As for your fonts and font size, I'm happy to say that it matches perfectly and is perfectly readable as well. Hmm... navigation: "Victms". It should be spelt as "Victims" ;)

    Navigation
The Crime I think credits should simply be placed there instead of writing "Credits can be found here." It would be easier for the visitor and nicer for your website as well.

The Killer Mhm, very detailed. I usually disallow comments on pages for my websites, but it's your choice to disallow them or not! :)
VictimsThat Is So Cool! Add in friends too, rather than simply favourite people, daily reads, and et cetera. You can make friends by blog-hopping - like checking others' friends at their websites. :D

    Overall
Well, this website is above average that you are a beginner. Of course, you can check out more tutorials at places like "heartdrops.org", "nekonette.com" and more! They'll help you improve your website better and better. I enjoyed reviewing your website.

Overall First Impression: Big, not to bright, easy to read and the style and design is simple yet excellent on the eyes.

Layout: Your layout is clean, which is always a good thing, and black on white always work wonders togehter. Now the image on the sidebar looks a bit squished but when I open it up on my browser to a full page, I can see it fine. Your layout seems to be made for a much higher screen resolution. This makes your sidebar image look a bit squished, but on my browers which is a 1280x800 screen resolution, I can see it fine. The key is to make everything show up the same way in all browsers.
The links to your other pages are seen right off, which is a huge plus. I have to wonder about the links though. How did you get them to all turn blue like that? It's both a good and bad thing. Good because it's something that's not seen often, and bad because it looks like they were all linked to the same page, even though they weren't. Interesting however.

Content: I like the things you offer, and I also like the page about you, you've kept it simple. Simple is the key, it works. Links, no problem there. Images you offer and made, nothing spectacular but well done. Scribbles, I love your scribbles and drawings, especially piglet! :)
Tutorials, I'd love to see more from you.
I like that you credited your sources, that's always a huge plus to see. I know not many people do, but I'm glad you did. :)

Blog: My GOD! You write incredibly well! I found your blog very interesting, fun, informative, and with a lot of character. Keep it up! You're an amazing writer and it shows. I believe that if your site was just a blog, it would work just as well. :D

Overall: I like your site very much. I think you have a lot of potential and a great deal of artistic ability to make this site even better. :) Keep up the amazing work Cherry, I cannot wait to see what else you have in store.

    Cherry's Response:

Thank you so much!^^ I'll turn the page "extras" for a while, I'm thinking of making it just a site for photography/writing, but I'm not sure yet. Oh, and I also changed the layout.
    Again, thanks for the review.:)

First impressions: I like that the content is front and center and the text is easy to read. I'll get past pretty wild colors when it comes to being able to read without my eyes getting fried. Black against white always wins. Your blog title is right up there at the top, nice and big, which draws my eyes down directly to reading what you have to say. I also like that the main image in the layout is off to the side, instead of at the top because its more original. The only thing that bothered me a little was the fact that the image seems to be crowding the right edge of the text in the sidebar. If you can move the text over 40 pixels or so, it should solve the problem. I'm also kinda wondering why the text in the sidebar changes color when I hover over it, as if its a link. I would suggest just leaving that to your links.

Cross browser compatibility: I viewed your site through the major browsers (google chrome, safari, firefox, opera) and I also put it through http://browsershots.org to see how it looks on other ones. Everything still looks good, the only issue is the crowding on the right side of the sidebar, but that can be fixed pretty easily.

Visitor content: If you're going to use images of celebrities, I would suggest linking back to the site where you found them, or at least mentioning the celebrity's name. Maybe make a "credits" page? Even if you give credit to the celeb or the photographer, it still might be considered copyright infringement. I suggest looking for public domain stock images, or the creative commons section on Flickr. Flickr explains what the photographers want in the way of credit. What would be even better is if you use your own stock images and take cool photos yourself. That way, your stuff would be 100% original and 100% legal. :) You mentioned in your blog that you like to write, so maybe write some cool articles on something you are interested in, something that you have strong opinions on or something you know a lot about. People appreciate content that is 100% YOU. That's what will keep your visitors linking back and coming back for more.

Your site is new, but you are at a good start with the cute/clean layout--just a few tweaks to consider. You seem like a creative person, so I'm interested to see what you come up with for more content.

    Cherry's Response:

Oww, thank you! It is my first serious blog, so I expected to receive a maximum of two stars:)
I'll fix the image is kind of hard because if I put it closer to the text, it will be difficult to read, and if I put too far will be cut by half in some browsers.
And on the tip about the photos, I'll put a page of credits and take more care with what I use to make my graphics.
    Again, thanks for the review.=D
